MCC supports the Skilled Trades BC (previous known as ITA) apprenticeship program and welcome carpentry apprentices at any stage of their training. Murphy Construction can help you get started.
MCC sponsors employees on the tools with the Skilled Trades BC carpentry apprenticeship program – a combination of on-job training and classroom learning in order to become a ticketed Red Seal carpenter. To become a ticketed Red Seal carpenter, it is approximately a four-year program consisting of eight weeks of schooling per level (four levels in total), in combination with training hours accumulated on the job site under the tutelage of a certified Red Seal Carpenter.
In November of 2017, MCC was recognized as a "Champion of Apprentices" by Skilled Trades BC for their dedication of empowering apprentices to work towards their Red Seal tickets.
For more information on our successes with the apprentice program, listen to a little radio interview we did with the Skilled Trades BC on Whistler FM Radio here.
We want to assist in growing carpenters and carpentry programs in the Sea to Sky, so we will continue to foster our relationships with Skilled Trades BC and the Ts'zil Learning Centre (Lil'wat Nation's Post Secondary facility).
It is our goal is to create pathways for our labourers to be lead carpenters in three-four years and/or our carpenters to have the opportunity to move into supervisor or management positions - creating a progression of skills development and opportunities for future generations.
